At the recent Stripe Sessions 2025 conference, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg emphasized that AR glasses are an area worth investing in for the next decade.
Zuckerberg talked about glasses at the conference, noting that they are an ideal vehicle for AI: "Glasses are the perfect vehicle for AI because you allow AI to see what you see, hear what you hear, and talk to you 24/7. It will be more conversational, more voice-based, and more personalized."
The CEO added that future glasses will support AR holographic features: "Our glasses are going very well. We have sold millions of them and will continue to expand to more styles and more features. We will add holograms. Glasses, especially as the ultimate social platform, holograms can give people an immersive feeling, like you are with another person, which is an experience that no screen can provide at present."
He continued: "In the future, maybe I will be teleported here in the form of a hologram, which will be very cool. So, coupled with the fact that glasses are the ultimate device for AI, I think this is an area worth investing in for the next 10 years."
Zuckerberg's confidence in this "10-year" investment comes from Meta's full support. The company's social ecosystem (used by 3.98 billion people per month) provides rich data for training artificial intelligence assistants, and strong profitability at the group level allows Zuckerberg to continue to invest in Reality Labs.
