Developer Saber Interactive announced today that although "Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 3" has entered the development stage, the team's support for the previous game "Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2" is far from over. In fact, the studio will provide "Space Marines 2" with an additional full year of free and paid content updates, and plans to launch a new "big update" (version 10.0) in September 2025.
Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment wrote in a Steam announcement: "Year 2 content is in preparation, and the new annual season pass will include free content and DLC content! Thanks to your continued support, "Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2" can receive continuous content updates. Thank you again for your participation! It is expected that there will be new PvE missions, enemies, weapons and... more surprises. It is not convenient to reveal more details at present. Please continue to pay attention to follow-up news."
In this announcement, Saber confirmed a new weapon that will be added to the game: the power axe. This weapon is not part of the second year season pass content, but as part of the 10.0 major update scheduled to be launched in September. The power axe will have its own action set and execution animation.
In addition, Saber revealed that a new profession is being developed for the game's PvE and PvP gameplay: the technical sergeant. The technical sergeant plays the role of mechanic and technical support in the space marine. Detailed information about this profession will be announced in the next community update.
However, along with the good news comes an adjustment: a new PvP mode originally scheduled for the next update (version 9.0) has now been postponed to version 10.0. Saber shared some information about this new mode: it will be played on a brand new map, and the core gameplay is to let the Chaos forces fight each other in some undetermined and ominous way. In this mode, players will also have the opportunity to control one of the boss units in the game-the Hell Beast. Since this mode focuses on the Chaos forces, new Chaos-exclusive armor will also be added to the game.
More specific details about the "Space Marines 2" 10.0 major update and this new PvP mode are expected to be disclosed to players through subsequent community updates in July and August 2025.
