Recently, Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed that Tesla will release a major FSD update in September, also revealing some key features.

Musk emphasized that the FSD software update will bring "significant improvements," particularly in handling unusual road conditions. He stated, "Next month's FSD software update will provide significant, step-by-step improvements in handling unusual road conditions."

In addition, Musk provided specific details on the changes, stating that the need for driver attention will be "significantly reduced," but that drivers will still need to pay attention in some "complex intersections, inclement weather, or unusual events."

Musk did not mention the possibility of FSD achieving unsupervised autonomous driving by the end of the year, a departure from previous statements. Furthermore, Tesla's FSD system, developed in Austin for robotaxis, is more advanced (six months ahead of the FSD available to US consumers). Musk said the system performs so well that it "feels like a real person driving" in some situations.

As Tesla continues to optimize its FSD suite through data collection and neural networks, its autonomous driving capabilities continue to improve. This update will be a significant step forward in Tesla's journey toward fully autonomous driving. Hopefully, it will launch smoothly in September, as Musk promised.
