At 8:30 PM Pacific Time on September 28th, in the sixth round of the Premier League, Arsenal traveled to face Newcastle United. In the first half, Yorkes was brought down in the penalty area and was awarded a penalty, but it was disallowed by VAR. Waltermade scored for Newcastle, and Eze's two shots were saved by Pope, giving Newcastle a 1-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, Merino equalized with a header, and Gabriel scored in stoppage time, giving Arsenal a 2-1 comeback victory over Newcastle, placing them just two points behind Liverpool at the top of the table.
