According to The Game Business, pre-orders for the PC Steam version of Battlefield 6 alone have reached 1.7 million, with first-week sales expected to reach 5 million.
According to statistics, nearly one-third (29%) of Call of Duty players who participated in the Battlefield 6 open beta did not return to playing Call of Duty. The largest number of players in the open beta were PC Steam users, followed by PlayStation users.
According to data analytics companies, the Battlefield 6 open beta attracted approximately 22 million to 25 million users, with a peak daily active user base of 10.4 million. In comparison, the Battlefield 2042 open beta attracted 5.7 million participants, with a peak daily active user base of only 5.1 million, far lower than Battlefield 6. The Battlefield 2042 public beta lasted four days, while Battlefield 6's was eight.
Data analytics firm Video Game Insights estimates that Battlefield 6 surpassed two million Steam wishlists within a few weeks and currently stands at 2.4 million, triple the number for Call of Duty.
Data analytics firm Ampere estimates that Battlefield 6 has received 1.7 million pre-orders on Steam. Ampere surveyed Call of Duty players who played the Battlefield 6 beta and whether they subsequently returned to the game. Among this group (which refers solely to players who played both games simultaneously), 29% of Xbox players, 24% of PlayStation players, and 48% of Steam players did not return to Call of Duty in August. As a result, Ampere predicts that Call of Duty's outages on Steam this year could be more severe than on consoles.
Battlefield 6 is clearly gaining momentum. Ampere projects that Battlefield 6 will sell 5 million copies in its first week, and anticipation is growing as its October 10th release date approaches.
Battlefield 6 is almost certain to sell strongly on its launch day, and a strong start could have a knock-on effect on Call of Duty (which launched over a month later).
