At 9:30 AM Pacific Time on October 4th, the 7th round of the 2025/26 Premier League season continued, with Chelsea hosting Liverpool. In the first half, Caicedo scored a stunning goal from outside the box, but Ganajao was brought down in the box, and no penalty was awarded. In the second half, Isaac assisted Gakpo to equalize, Enzo hit the post, and Estevão scored the winning goal in stoppage time. Maresca was sent off for his passionate celebration. Ultimately, Chelsea defeated Liverpool 2-1 at home, handing Liverpool their third consecutive defeat in all competitions.
In the 14th minute, Caicedo received the ball upfield and, finding an open center, dribbled forward. After dribbling past McAllister, he fired a stunning shot from the top of the penalty area past the goalkeeper. Chelsea led Liverpool 1-0.
In the 34th minute, facing a sharp break by Cucurella, Bradley was forced to pull down his opponent and received a yellow card. In the 38th minute, Ganajao's shot from outside the penalty area went just wide. In the 39th minute, Ganajao, while breaking through the left penalty area, fell to the ground after a clear push from Soboslai. The referee firmly ruled the goal was not a foul, sparking considerable controversy. Chelsea head coach Maresca was also given a yellow card for protesting the decision.
At the end of the first half, Chelsea temporarily led Liverpool 1-0.
In the 63rd minute, Liverpool launched an attack from the left. Soboslai passed the ball from the bottom corner to the center of the penalty area. Isaac made a wonderful right-footed pass inside the penalty area, creating a great scoring opportunity for Gakpo. Gakpo easily poked the ball into the goal from inside the six-yard box to equalize the score, Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool.
In the 79th minute, Soboslai was given a yellow card for a serious foul. In the 80th minute, Chelsea attacked from the left. Enzo's cross was nearly cleared by Gravenberch, who shoveled it into his own net. In the 84th minute, Caicedo's long-range shot and Estevão's shot were both saved by Mamadashvili. In the 91st minute, Chelsea organized an attack from the left. Estevão passed the ball to the open post at the back post. Enzo's quick header hit the outside of the post and bounced out of the bottom line.
In the 96th minute, Chelsea attacked from the left. Cucurella received the ball in the penalty area and passed it across the box. Estevão, in excellent form throughout the match, slotted home a shot from the far post, giving Chelsea a 2-1 lead over Liverpool.
Chelsea coach Maresca was shown a second yellow card for his enthusiastic celebration of the goal.
Finally, at the end of the match, Chelsea defeated their rivals Liverpool 2-1 at home, thanks to a stunning goal from Caicedo and a last-minute winner from Estevão.
