With the latest Airbus A320 family aircraft delivered by Airbus to Saudi Arabia's Nas Air, the family's deliveries surpassed Boeing's 737 family for the first time, becoming the most-delivered aircraft in aviation history.

The Airbus A320 first flew in 1987. According to a Reuters report on the 7th, data from aviation data analysis firm RiseRealm shows that since its market entry in 1988, 12,260 Airbus A320s have been delivered, breaking the long-held record held by the Boeing 737.

According to Reuters, the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 families were originally designed for large hub airports and later became widely used by budget airlines. After the September 11th attacks, Boeing reduced production due to sluggish demand, while Airbus actively pursued budget airline customers to expand its market share.

Boeing launched the 737 series in the 1960s, and it is considered to have set the industry standard for narrow-body airliners. However, two Boeing 737 MAX crashes occurred in October 2018 and March 2019, resulting in a total of 346 deaths. Subsequent investigations revealed a safety design vulnerability in the aircraft's software system, posing a serious crisis of confidence in the quality and safety of Boeing aircraft.
