According to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA)'s latest annual report, "The Power of Play 2025," the average age of global gamers has risen to 41, reflecting significant structural changes in the gaming industry.

Based on a survey of over 24,000 gamers from 21 countries, the report indicates that a growing number of middle-aged and older adults view gaming as a means of relaxation, entertainment, and mental stimulation. Gender distribution is nearly evenly balanced among gamers, with women comprising 48% and men 51%. Regarding device usage, 55% of respondents primarily play games on smartphones, followed by PCs and consoles, each accounting for 21%.

The survey also found that 81% of gamers believe gaming helps keep their minds sharp; 80% use gaming as a stress reliever; and 64% believe gaming helps alleviate loneliness and build social connections. The ESA noted that gaming has gradually become an important part of adults' daily lives, providing entertainment, social interaction, and psychological relaxation.

The report also cited the WHO's latest warning, noting the potential negative consequences of excessive gaming. The WHO has officially listed "gaming disorder" as a mental health issue in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11), reminding people to maintain a balance between entertainment and life responsibilities.
