Samsung AI robot Ballie will be unveiled this week, supporting smart home integration and projection functions

Apr 10, 2025

Recently, Samsung announced through its official social platform account that it will display the Ballie robot on a stage this week and may announce the release details of the robot. Although its pricing and specific release date have not yet been announced, Samsung has confirmed that Ballie will be available in the US market in the first half of 2025. As for whether other markets will be launched simultaneously, it is not yet clear.

During the CES show in January 2025, Samsung showed Ballie to the media. The robot glided smoothly on a pre-set wooden plane, fully demonstrating its flexible mobility. Its front camera was upgraded to a full HD three-laser projector, and the projection quality is said to be close to Samsung The Premiere 5 laser projector.

Samsung positions Ballie as an AI companion robot that can be deeply integrated with Samsung's SmartThings smart home platform to control various smart home devices. It is equipped with a camera and a mini projector that can follow the user around the home. In addition, it is equipped with four far-field microphones to accurately capture the user's voice commands.

Ballie can provide weather forecasts, play movies, display Samsung health data, and help manage shopping lists. The robot is also equipped with the world's first switchable lens projector, which can be used for close and long-distance projection. This means that it can display operation options on the ground as needed, or project navigation information or movies onto the wall.

In addition, Ballie's AI capabilities are constantly evolving. Compared with earlier versions, the latest iteration of Ballie has significantly improved its response speed and language processing, and can communicate with users more naturally, and even express "emotions" or personalized information through projection.
