At the Laureus Awards Ceremony, La Liga giants Real Madrid defeated the Spanish national team to win the Team of the Year Award, and Barcelona star Yamal won the Breakthrough Award. Last season, Real Madrid won the 15th Champions League title in team history.

Chinese athlete Jiang Yuyan won the Disabled Athlete of the Year Award. She won 7 swimming gold medals at the Paris Paralympics, the most gold medals among all sports delegations in the event.
