The real-time strategy game "Tempest Rising", which features multiple asymmetric camps confronting each other globally and reproducing the classic violent aesthetics of old-school RTS such as C&C, has ended its 7-day early access experience on the Steam platform and has officially launched today (April 25) after unlocking the ranking.
As a new RTS game of the new era, "Tempest Rising" was created by the Danish studio Slipgate Ironworks. Based on the feelings and inspiration of the classic RTS masterpieces from the 90s to the 00s, the game producer Frederik Schreiber convened a research and development team that still has a strong passion for RTS, and finally created an anti-trend work for players that can be called the RTS Renaissance.
Who will inherit the orthodox RTS banner?
With the latest game development technology, "Tempest Rising" inherits the core spirit of classic RTS and restores the delicate dynamic battlefield visual performance. In the current version, the game temporarily opens two asymmetric available camps: players can play the commander of the Global Defense Force (GDF), leading an elite force known for its high mobility and advanced intelligence warfare; or become the iron blood commander of the Storm Dynasty (DYN), guiding the brave and powerful Flame Legion to flatten everything.
In terms of creating a war atmosphere, "Tempest Rising" highlights a large amount of fullness at the first launch. The single-player campaign plot of 11 chapters in each camp is set in the background of an imaginary modern war: due to the outbreak of the missile crisis, the nuclear war spread rapidly, and the confrontation between the two polar camps intensified. In the wasteland that looks like the end of the world, a mysterious resource "Storm Vine" was quietly born from the radiation ashes. It is not only a symbol of destruction, but also contains huge energy. It soon became the core object of the desperate struggle between the two camps of the Global Defense Force and the Storm Dynasty.
Through exquisite and complete CG animations and battlefield briefings, players will immerse themselves in the cold and hot apocalyptic war from the perspective of the commander, and deeply appreciate the unique personality charm of each character. As the plot progresses, the truth hidden behind the "Storm Vine" will gradually be revealed, and a mysterious third-party force is quietly rising in the shadow of war...
In order to meet the game needs of different players, "Tempest Rising" not only brings traditional game mechanisms such as base construction, resource collection, and unit production to classic RTS players, but also integrates the current game habits of players and strives to optimize the entry threshold of real-time strategy gameplay.
In the map, players can interact with neutral units and accumulate advantages by occupying neutral buildings with strategic value; outside the battlefield, each camp also contains a rich technology tree to unlock. I believe that all commanders can use their imagination to find the most suitable tactical direction for themselves.
Since the early access was launched on the night of April 17, "Tempest Rising" has received 88% of special praise on the Steam platform, touching the game DNA of many old players. The StarCraft old boy used the chat flow interference tactic in the live entertainment match, and the battle was lively and effective.
According to the producer, Slipgate Ironworks will continue to support and improve the subsequent content of "Tempest Rising" with its partner 3D Realms. In addition to the third camp that has already shown the tip of the iceberg in the campaign, the team also plans to add PVE cooperative gameplay that is deeply loved by real-time strategy players, as well as Mod support, custom map functions and various player community support activities.
The spiritual sequel to the old-school RTS "Tempest Rising" is now officially on sale, with the basic version priced at $39.99 and the deluxe version priced at $49.99.
