Recently, VGC reported that insider KeplerL2, who has accurately leaked AMD hardware, revealed that Sony plans to release the PS6 in 2027. He stated, "This is not just a consideration; barring any unexpected delays, this is the plan."

Following this, another leaker, "Moore's Law is Dead," revealed that Microsoft's next-generation Xbox console, "Magnus," will also be released in 2027. This means that the two new consoles will face off head-to-head in 2027.

Moore's Law is Dead stated: "It's targeted for a 2027 release. I want to be clear. Since I recently released the Xbox Magnus and RDNA5 video, I've heard from more sources that Microsoft is in talks with partners behind the scenes and has publicly stated that Magnus will be released in 2027."

Moore's Law is Dead also stated that the "Magnus" APU, a collaboration between Microsoft and AMD, will be slightly more powerful than the PS6, but will likely be priced higher. He also claimed that, based on previous speculation, Microsoft's next-generation console may be more of a console + PC hybrid setup, rather than a standard console competing head-on with the PS6.
