PopCap Games' high-definition remake of the classic tower defense game, "Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted," is about to release. However, users who purchased the game on the EA App Store can get an early preview by pre-downloading and modifying the Unity executable. Unfortunately, this step exposed numerous issues with this supposed remake.

Renowned reviewer GabrielOflTM detailed in his review that "Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted" suffers from missing levels, some levels being completely inoperable, poor quality art assets, and numerous bugs. A loading screen appears when switching from the menu to the opening cutscene, the game uses the same menu design from the mobile version, and other puzzling design choices. None of the levels have their original soundtracks, and the background music speeds up when the player attempts to speed up the game.
Overall, the experience isn't ideal for both veterans and those new to the IP. EA has yet to comment on the game's current status on the eve of release, so stay tuned for updates and potential fixes.
Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted will release on October 23rd for PC and consoles, including Steam, the EA App, the Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
